We, as a community can work cohesively to understand and combat the disunity, economic inequality, segregation, and violence in Hartford and around the world. The Festival hopes to achieve these goals through community participation in live musical concerts that educate through socially, politically, and culturally conscious hip hop, educational panel discussions and workshops with guest professors and artists from Hartford and around the world, and open discussion (whether through music, poetry, dance, photography, or simply spoken word) among all participants.
- The concerts will allow for people of all ages, races, sexes, and walks of life to unite in a positive and safe environment.
- Through workshops, participants can apply what they have seen and heard at concerts into a new artistic form they are learning whether it be spoken word, poetry, rap, or break-dance.
- Panel discussions allow participants to ask questions and discuss social, cultural, political, and economic issues heard and learned at concerts and in general everyday life with professionals from various fields of work and parts of the world. Each guest speaker or panel discussant brings their own unique understanding of global issues whether he or she is from the United States, Latin America, Africa, Asia, or Europe.
We would like to stress that every event at the Trinity International Hip Hop Festival searches to foster educational development and social and cultural awareness.
